Sports blog...$100m

Aaron Rogers just signed a $100m+ contract with the Green Bay Packers.

Kawaii Leonard could receive $190m over 5 years from the Raptors!

Mike Trout of baseballs' LA Angels will receive $32m in 2018.

What's my point?

I should have been a professional athlete!

BUT I'm 5' 8 1/2" 140 lbs soaking wet. Too small for those and too big to be a jockey. I guess I didn't get the right genes.

I did however (at least so far) get the right genes for good health and perhaps that's more valuable than all the money in the world.

I sell life insurance so deal with health issues everyday. I'm also a bit of a health nut. (I'm gone so far as to have been a raw foodist for the last 2+ years). So this phrase I heard recently seems apropos...Genetics load the gun...environment pulls the trigger.

What that tells me is genes are luck of the draw (life isn't fair as evidenced by the fact I haven't signed any $100m contracts) but we do have some control over the end result of what happens to us. I say some because some people definitely draw the short end of the stick on the gene pool. For the rest of us however we do have a say in how we move forward.

So perhaps it all begins with 1 step...

The insurance industry is all about stats when it comes to life insurance. Munich Re, a large international reinsurance company has indicated that 'steps taken per day' is a powerful predictor of mortality. Their analysis found that steps per day can actually segment a population into certain mortality risks even when accounting for age, smoking status and various health indicators. Karen Cutler, chief underwriter at Manulife says "Just get up and move...you get massive benefits by simply moving a little bit more."

Adding fuel to the fire I've also heard that sitting at a desk too long is considered the new smoking!

So perhaps take that 1st step every day...and a few more after that and you never know what might result! And then try this below...
